From our pool lanai we have two views - one out to the canal, where we can see boats going in and out of Maximo Channel - and the other out into Boca Ciega Bay, with the illuminated Don ceSar Hotel across the bay on St Pete Beach.
From our sunset room, however, which is perced on top of our roof, we can see water on 3 sides (and we used to be able to see downtown St Petersburg, before the oak trees next door grew tall enough to block the view).
In addition to that, we can see beautiful sunsets. We can watch the sun fall to the horizon, and when it hits, it's only a moment until it disappears behind the horizon. Then we can enjoy the afterglow of soft colors making waves in the sky.
At this time of year we have lights strung around the roofline of our sunset room, so we have a nice illuminated "tower room". (Secretly - we keep them up all year, so that we can turn them on for parties and special occasions.)

Sharon will you adopt me for the next three months? The high tonight will be 18 degrees! I want a sunset room - with the sun!
Sharon- Now that you let the cat out of the bag about your awesome views and home, we expect to see a ton of photos of those views:)
What fun to sit up there. We have several homes here in the mountains with 'scenic rooms' and I love them!
I love that! We are planning to add a screened in porch (Texas lanai) to the back of the house that overlook a pretty valley and southwest view of the sunset!
Debbie - I left Newport, Rhode Island, years ago to avoid the winters - and we didn't even get as low as 18 degrees. Brrr!
Katerina - I could do a different sunset every night!
Susie - when you have a great view, you might as well take best advantage of it.
Russell - sounds like you have a great view as well. I'm sure you'll enjoy your lanai.
