We're so often creatures of habit. Every weekday morning my alarm goes off at 4:45 am, I get up and drive to the Renaissance Vinoy Hotel where I read my Kindle on the treadmill, and most days work out after that. Then I go upstairs to the historic lobby and have coffee with my "Kitchen Cabinet" - or should I call it my "Lobby Cabinet"?
Then I drive a few blocks to my office, typically taking the same route. One day in September I decided to go a block further south before turning away from the water to my office. I saw what appeared to be this empty office - so I circled around the block, parked, and went to look in the windows.
Indeed, Beach Drive Optical had moved out of this prime location, to a building just across from Bayfront Hospital. Hmmm - best location I can think of for a real estate office. No "For Lease" sign - I wonder if it's already been leased - and if not, if the rent is so high as to preclude any thinking of taking the space .....
Why did I change my route? Who knows - but I did. Serendipity? Kismet? Fate? Divine Intervention?
That change of usual route on a day back in September set a whole chain of events in motion, leading to ALVA International, Inc.

Sharon, so will you be possibly setting up shop here? Keep us posted. I love the Renaissance Vinoy by the way. Stayed there during a business awards trip once.
Sharon, Wow 4:45 every morning What an accomplishment. Waiting to hear more about your plans.
Do you like your kindle? Is it easy to read while exercising? Can you make the font large?
Do you ever wonder about the opportunities that we missed because we weren't in the right place at the right time?
I dunno, Sharon! I think it's one of those little signs from the Universe! And, like Margaret, I am totally impressed that you get up so early every morning and hit the treadmill. Whoo!
Okay Sharon, ALVA International? Do tell! Can't wait to hear the rest of the story!
Gary - you guessed the ending - but do stay tuned. Glad you enjoyed the Renaissance Vinoy - I always do, and sometimes we'll just go over and spend a weekend there. This place is just 3 blocks from the Vinoy, an easy walk along the waterfront.
Margaret - the key is getting out the door before I'm awake enough to think about objecting. The plans are exciting - stay tuned. I love my Kindle. I've had it about a year and can't imagine being without it. It's much easier to read than a book, both in font size and in the fact that I don't have to hold the pages open. It has about 6 different choices of font size.
Lise - No, I really don't. I assume that if we weren't there, it wasn't meant for us.
Pat - I'm with you. Now you know why I go to sleep so early at night.
I hope this works for you.

Marcy - we're excited and optimistic.
Amazing how things fall into place when we follow our instincts!
Congratulations on the new upcoming digs but more importantly, congratulations on listening to that inner voice that told you to keep straight one more block before turning! Look what great things are coming from one block!

Colleen - yet another reason we should never ignore that voice in our head or that feeling we don't quite understand.
Renae - reminds me of Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken".
Sharon - This is really exciting news!!! I am so happy for you and your family/team!!!! Indeed, the universe leads us, we just need to recognize it!!!
Wow! Talk about being in the right place at the right time! I'm really happy for you. Can't wait to hear about "ALVA International!" Do tell!
Sharon, LOL "...out the door before you are awake enough to object."
Barbara-Jo - thank for the good words.
Kathy - it was the right place at the right time. Construction starts at 7:30 tomorrow morning.
Margaret - funny, but true.
Hi Sharon, we met in Dallas last year at the Luxury Marketing seminar. I believe in timing. What a cute office. I can picture your company name on that awning!
Hi, Mindy and Jay,
The new awning should go up January 2nd and I'll post the new one. We start moving in tomorrow morning.
