Lots of people up north think we're missing out because it's warm here and we don't have any snow. No - not at all!
Not only do people here decorate their homes on the street side - many more decorate their homes on the waterside.
December 13th is a day to enjoy the Boat Parades in St. Petersburg. Decorated boats join the parades (there are several in the Tampa Bay6 area) and you see t6he lights, and hear the music, and enjoy the fun the participants are having. Hmmm - many years we've had people to our home to watch the Gulfport Boat Parade as it goes by our dock - but this year it's only going down one canal in our neighborhood. So
we may leave the neighborhood and go down to Downtown St Petersburg and watch that Boat Parade.
Yes - we could decorate our boat and join one or several parades, but as I get older and lazier, I'd rather not participate, but just watch the others as they go by,.

Hi Sharon,
Oh, I love these boat parades. We have them too!
Hi Sharon,
Moved to the Panhandle of Florida four years ago from the Midwest. We go to the boat parades in Ft. Walton Beach and Pensacola (we live in Navarre between the two "cities"). I find them fun and charming and don't miss the snow and gray skies from up north at all. Enjoy and Merry Christmas!
Hi Sharon, We have a boat parade here is is quite good but the best boat parade I ever saw was in Lauderdale. I had a friend that owned a penthouse in a tower on the Intercoastal and it was totally amazing, looking down and out at what was extraordinary. I have never seen the St Petersberg parade but I would guess it is also pretty special. Great fun for sure.
Sharon, I have never seen boat parades, makes sense to be there on Dec 13th. Do you have an extra room? info@KathyToth.com Blessings.
I need to visit!
Lynda - we know that the lights reflecting on the water is just as beautiful as lights reflecting on snow.
Connie - it's nice to see more than one - each has their own flavor. We have several here, but some conflict in time.
William - while many people like to line the waterfront to watch the boat parade in downtown St Petersburg, my favorite viewing spot is from the balcony of one of the many luxury condos overlooking the downtown waterfront.
Kathy - come on down! One of the boat parades used to come down the canal in front of our house, so we'd always have a party. They no longer do that, so we go to the other boat parades.
Will - it's a great season for a visit.
I love Christmas parades when it's really cold and some street vendor is selling yummy hot chocolate. Ours in next Saturday and I have a full day planned that includes the parade.
Tammy - I like Christmas boat parades when it's warm and I can be outside in shorts.
Hi Sharon... I love to watch the boat parades. It's like the Florida version of the Macy's parade. Each year they get more extravagant. It's amazing how much money people spend decorating their boats!
Hi Sharon. I've been here for 21 years and experienced seeing many boat parades, The imagination of some of the boaters is unbelievable, Some are better than those you see driving around the neighborhood looking at decorations.

Colleen - many of the people decorating boats enter multiple boat parades in our area.
Tony - and they sing, too.
Sharon that's pretty cool and you have given me a good idea for a localism post here in Austin! Hope all is well with you!
We need each other's ideas. All is well here in St Pete with our team and family. Hope it is for you in Austin, as well.
