Some people are naturally inclined to give you an answer that goes on and on, just as others are inclined to give a simple Yes or No, or - in some parts of the country, an Unnnh!
We all should have learned about the DISC personalities, and how to respond to them. If I'm a D (and I am), just give me the bottom line and save the novel.
One of our team members likes to expound and explain - I got the response actually from her, in one of her explanations: after a while, I'll just hold up my hand and say -
Please! Just tell me the time, don't tell me how to build the clock!

Learning about DISC personalities should be mandatory for all humans!!!! I too am a high D !
LOL! We must have come out of the same mold. Larry is famous for building clocks. I roll my eyes backward into my head.

Amen to DISC...it really helps, AND keeps you ahead of any seller complaints, as you deliver what they need before they ask, because you know from their personality type what to expect!
I hate it when strangers greet you on the phone with the long... Hi How are you? how's the weather there, etc, when you know they just want to sell something. Just give me the facts Ma'am!
Susan - Agree, fellow D!
Kristal - I've been known to do the eye rolling a time or two, too.
Pat - we always put the assumed DISC personality right into our ACT records so that any team member talking to a person will know.
Linda - your D is showing!
Linda - D is for Dragnet!!!
Sharon, You know me as a Type E. Just the facts M'am..Just the facts Thinking about you and your family. Hope you had a good birthday.

Sharon- did I hear Birthday....Happy Birthday-cute post-loved the message. Was that short enough for you :) Oh, and have a good night :)
Margaret - I so appreciated your phone call. You are so people-centric I can't even hope to emulate you. Es and Ds are on the same boat.
Kathy - thanks. Today I turned 65 and can only say, Hooray for Medicare! Am I retiring? Heck, no. I'm starting a new real estate business!
Sharon - Happy Birthday!! And congrats on starting a new business! There is a magazine of octagenarians highlighting what they accomplish after they reach 60 - the businesses they start, the research they do, the books they write, etc. Retirement isn't in my vocabulary!
I love personality profiles. I think Watson uses one similar to DISC but I think it's ACER? That test told me more about myself than the Myers-Briggs or any other test I had ever taken. I'll have to get it out and see where I correspond to DISC but I'm betting it's a D because when people start rambling I start thinking, "Bottom line, bottom line..."
Sharon, I am soooooooo with you on not needing a whole long drawn out story so I will keep this comment short and sweet too :)
Hi Sharon,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! There is no way I would believe your 65! But hey, those of us over 60 need to stick together, right!
Anyway, this is so true, and it's truly one of the ways I identify one person in my office. He manages for me and I've always said, when asked the time, he will tell you how to make a watch! He is the most detailed and thorough people I've ever known.
Sharon - That is why i love your blog, you get right to the point.
Sharon - thanks and thanks! What's retirement??? There are lots of personality tests, from pigs to colors, but for me the DISC says it best.
Lisa - Yes.
Lynda - Thanks. We're only as old as we act (someone said as old as we feel, but I think it's more about how we react to people, despite how we may feel).
Jennifer - I think that's what's called Voice in a blog. Very different from Sarah Cooper - but there is no best or better. We are who we are. Just ask Teresa Boardman.
