This was a surprising site this morning, pre-dawn, as I drove to the gym. It was so impressive I took the next exit off the interstate ramp and drove closer so that I could take a photo without risking a collision.
Tropicana Field in St Petersburg has a fabric roof - you can be inside during the daytime and not need lights, because the sun shines through.
At night, though, if the Tampa Bay Rays win the game, the roof (dome) is illuminated with Tropicana Orange lights. This is the first time I've seen the lights still on in the early morning - but then, it's the first time the Rays won their right to play in the World Series, which starts here in St Petersburg on Wednesday.
A rare site - an inspiring story of a baseball team - and the locals celebrate the RAYS and party around town. What's the saying? From worst to first.
After heart-stopping games, from top to bottom, from win to lose (much like the stock market of late), the RAYS came home and won their league here, much to the dismay of the Boston Red Sox.
In the pre-dawn darkness, the orange glow of Tropicana Field was a sight to behold!

Hi Sharon, I was showing some buyers property today. They are from Boston and seemed resigned to their fate, at least for this year. GO RAYS !!!
Hi Sharon Welcome back. I guess with the Rays in the series ( we have no horse in the race,so I am for whatever team you are for, so Tampa bay it is) you will have lots to see in St Pete and then be able to share on AR. Welcome back again!
That's a gorgeous shot! Good luck to the Rays.
You Type-A, You! You're bragging that you were on your way to the gym at some pre-dawn hour. OK! I'll admit it - I'm impressed
Congrats, Sharon, on your team going to the World Series! Beating the Red Sox is no easy task and they handled it well.
Hey Sharon,
You should all have a great time with the series. Ditto on Patricia's comment about heading to the gym! BTW, I've been on vacation and while sitting the pool bar today (yes I'll admit that) one of the Boston fans lamented their fate.
Sharon - I didn't get a chance to see the entire game but I did see the last couple of innings and was so thrilled for the Rays victory. Everyone in the Tampa area must be so proud of them and what they have achieved.
Go Rays! Even the dome is glowing! Best thing is that the win came at home...a much needed boost to the hometown! Just wait until the victory dance! Better get rehearsing. Thanks for sharing your picture & Greetings from Paradise. By the way, look forward to learing what you found at the Luxury seminar.
Morning Sharon,
Great picture, thanks for sharing. Nice to have you back, I have missed your post.
We have lots of excitement ahead of us with the Rays. Enjoy the fin over there.
Sharon,
Big Yankee and Mets fan here so I would rather see the Rays win...they earned it.
Sharon - Congrats to the Rays beating my Sox. They have a very nice young team. I hope they take the series.
Sharon-The Rays were the better team, so hears to the Rays over the Phillies.
Sharon -cool photo. Lots of excitement in the air there. Sill a Sox fan but used to being on the losing end from time to time. Best wishes for winning the series.
Jeff
Sharon This is so exciting and I am sure everyone is thrilled. The fantastic thing about the team is that so many of the members are young without a bunch big stars it was a true "Team Effort". Just like the results and effort and professionalism of your Team! Enjoy the ride, it's going to be a fun series!
Bill - the Red Sox have been there often enough - they can afford to share the glory.
William - thanks for the welcome. Had a great Leaders in Luxury conference last week in South Beach. Tickets for the series have been re-selling for anywhere from $200 to $6,000 depending on location. Glad you're rooting with us.
Donna - thanks.
Patricia - yes, of course. It's called subtle bragging.
Sharon - they kept everyone on edge through the last game. All the retailers and travel industry in both Boston and St Petersburg must be happy about that.
Lynda - so you get your exercise late in the day - practising arm lifts.
Donna - yes, Tampa Bay is really excited. Even Tampa is claiming the Rays now.,
Greg - missed you at Leaders in Luxury - you should plan on attending next year. Thanks for the glowing remarks.
Hal - thanks. Glad you missed me. Hopy you're enjoying the games - they're exciting to watch, even on tv, which is my preference.
Neal - whatever the reason, glad you're on our side.
Bill - thanks for wishing them well. We'd love to see them win the series - they've done so well to get to the top.
Joseph - it's often luck as much as skill. We root for the Red Sox when we're there, since we're originally from New England.
Jeff - excitement is in the air, and the noise is good, whichever team is doing the cheering. I like the Sox, too, but the Rays have my heart.
Russell - young and among the lowest paid, but what spirit! Did you know that Rocco, who brought in one of the winning runs, was so sick 18 months ago that they thought he'd never play again?
Exciting for a home team to be in the series for the first time. Russell has it right: Enjoy the ride.
Sharon, i am a big baseball fan and looking forward to Wednesday night start of the World Series. I recently caught the Phillie's in Chicago. they did look strong but I would have to go with the Rays this time. Should be a great series.
