We could (and should) say Welcome to our new neighbors across the street, since they moved in on Friday, but they beat us to the punch -
our new neighbors invited the owners of all 98 homes on our street as well as their own family and friends to a New Home party last night. It started with their Dad's 90th birthday party in the afternoon, for family that flew in from around the country, and went on to a grand celebration.
Neighbors got to meet their new neighbors, see the new house, and mix and mingle.
For these new homeowners, Mike and Debbie Zito, it was the second neighborhood party. More than a year ago, they held a party for neighbors and friends in the old house that they tore down - new plans were tacked on the walls, and graffiti and sledgehammers were welcomed. They introduced the contractor, who gave the neighbors his card with a phone number to call if they had any problems.
My husband, George, was the unofficial superintendent, and went over across the street every night for the past 18 months or so, to inspect what had gone on during the day.
Congratulations, Mike and Debbie, on a job well done, and on a great party as well! Thank you for inviting us!

Sharon - Wow! That must have been some party with 98 neighbors invited. Hope everyone had a great time!
hi Sharon, I'm just browsing posts while drinking my tea and saw this, what a gorgeous home, must have been an awesome party! Have a great week!
I know Debbie Zito; we met a year ago when I Staged a challening apt. on Bayshore for her. She is a great lady - spoke of her home building - glad to see that her home is finally finished.

Beautiful home and they sure have a wonderful neighbor...YOU!
Hi Sharon,
Pretty nice, what a neat thing to do!
Wow, as one of the family that wasn't invited to the big 90th, it is great to see the place. My Uncle Mike (Mike and Debbie's dad) is one of the nicest, kindest, most caring people that you will ever meet. It is great to know he is and will always be treated like a prince.
Donna - and the 98 neighbor families were only PART of the crowd!
marti - a great tea entertainment, I hope. It was an awesome party and they're awesome neighbors. You have a great week, too!
Jan - Debbie did a great job of staging her new home. You'd never known there were scores of contractors working the last couple of days. She is a great lady.
Sally - Awww!
Lynda - yes, both parties, the before and after, were very nice for the neighbors.
Family member - Your Uncle Mike and my husband George have become good friends over the last year and a half. He's really proud of his end of the house.
Hi Sharon,
Nice neighbors and a beautiful home. I couldn't begin to host that many people and retain my sanity. Hope everyone had a great time.
Hi Sharon love the look of the new diggs. Hope the party went well.
Sharon -- sounds like you have great neighbors. The house is very pretty.
Hal - some people thrive on parties and crowds, others don't.
Bill - it's a nice house to look at whenever we go out our front door. The party was a great success.
Shirley - We DO have great neighbors, both new and old.
Sounds like a blast. Gives me all kinds of ideas of fun things to do. I think all people in general should throw their doors open more often and invite people over.
Janna - it's always good to know your neighbors, and this is a great way for new and old to get to know each other - and have fun at the same time.
