Work ON your business

Whether you're in a hot market or a slow challenging market, you need to work not only IN your business, but ON your business.

What's changed? What's working and what's not? What do you need to do to sell your listings? Where xan you find buyers ready and able to buy?

It's easy to get caught up with minutia and interruptions. Be sure to schedule some time away from your business to do some planning. It's important to work ON your business.

Hi Sharon, I can certainly attest that this is some powerful advice. We often fail to plan the continuous steps required to build a business and not just an increase in business.

Hi Sharon,

It's easy to get caught up in the day to day requirements of business. Part of a good business plan should include a period of time to evaulate and refine where we are and where we want to go.

Randy - I know that only too well, but if we don't plan, then when the business slows down ....

William - we sometimes forget that the world keeps going and changing. If we aren't moving forward, we're not standing still, we're falling backward.

Hal - unless we've hired a CEO to work for us, we're that as well, and need to do what that job entails.

This is exactly why a marketing plan is sooooo important!  Just as a business plan is a roadmap to where you want your business to go, a marketing plan is the roadmap on how you're going to get there!  And using slow times is the perfect opportunity to refine that marketing plan.

Renae - I doubt if you can see any "slow time" in your life - but yes, it's all about a marketing plan.
