We're in the wrong business - if it's all about making money

Alpha magazine recently reported on the annual earnings of the top hedge fund managers.

In 2007 John Paulson topped the list - by betting on the housing market collapse, he made $3.7 Billion.

Four other hedge fund managers earned over $1 Billion in 2007.

In the five years that Alpha has been reporting on hedge fund managers' incomes, the entry point for the top 25 has increased 1,200%, from $30 Million to $360 Million. Pity the poor managers who made only $200 Million last year - they didn't even make the top 50.

Hi I heard about this on the Savage Nation radio show. There should be a law against this sort of wagering on securities and stocks . These hedge fund operators should be banned. They bet so heavily on the call, that they cause the outcome. The securities involved are often not that much bigger than the bets put again them. Totally amazing and outrageous!

Sharon - I have heard that they make alot of money, but I did not realize it was that much. That is how Jim Kramer of Mad Money on CNBC got started.

William - I guess plain vanilla is out, whether it's real estate loans or buying stock with real money instead of a futures contract.

Patricia - gee, I thought you were going to take us to a Billion Dollar Restaurant! Just kidding. I love what I do - and I sleep well at night.

Chuck - didn't know that's how Jim Kramer started. Wonder how much HE makes now ...

Sharon- I am just reading about this in Forbes magazine tonight. Amazing! True capitalism at work. I always say not matter what the market, you can find a way to make money.

And folks say we are over paid.  I had no idea they were making that kind of money.
