Real Estate Views from St Pete

Time for Half-Timers

It's November, and the time when many of our friends are coming back to spend their half year in Florida. November through April is pretty typical, and gives them part of both fall and spring, both my favorite seasons here in St. Petersburg.

Some are driving down from Up North, and others are flying "across the pond" from Europe. More lights shine out from the building windows at night, and the restaurants fill faster.

It's like a family reunion.  Welcome Back!

Sharon- We see it over here in Orlando as well. Most the vacation homes in the area start to fill up with snow birds.

When I lived in Arizona many years ago we had the same pattern.  In Hawaii we don't see many 1/2 year residents.

Sharon - On the other hand, I hate to see my friends go, and I look forward to their return.  Maybe at some point in my life I will be doing the same.

Sharon, that sounds so civilized!  No slipping around on the ice, either walking ro driving!  Ah, Some day I'm leaving all this for warmer pastures!

I notice this even moreso on Fort Myers Beach.  It's a ghost town in the summer. Often just a light or two on in an entire tower.  The lights are coming on!

I thought for sure I'd answered the first four of you, but no, the responses aren't here, so I'll start over.

Steve - Yes, I imagine it's the same throughout Florida - or at least below the Panhandle where it's warm.

Randy - why do you think Hawaii is different? I wouldn't think it's distance from the continental US would make the difference with all the beauty and charm you have there.

Jennifer - they have it made; they get both a welcome back party and a farewell party every years.

Patricia - come to warmer pastures sooner rather than later. You can always fly north when you want to see ice.

Chris - that is much more noticeable than here.

Barbara Jo - thanks.

Sharon - This makes Florida a very interesting and unique community.  The demographics change during the winter months when a number of people from across the country come to stay.

If you look closely out your car window, you will see me and my bride (of almost 50 years now) on the way down to Ft Myers.  Wish I could tell you when but this cold weather is closing in fast.

Unfortunately, I will be coming back by myself to watch the store.

Sal - our demographics also bring lots of Europeans for the winter six months.

Ed - don't do a drive by, please. Call me when you and your bride are driving though and let's get together for a meal or at least a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.
