What Was There Before?

It's interesting what we see, and what we see that we don't see. I recently posted about Perception in Yield signs. Here's another example:

We're driving along a route we frequently drive, and notice that where there was a building, there's now an empty lot. Do you remember what was there? More often than not, we think and think and just can't remember. Did we not "see" this time and time again? Yet we can't remember.

Comments

Sharon, funny you mention this as it happened to me last week. Another one is, where did that building come from? It wasn't there last week!

Sharon - good point!! Or the other way around - I show up after being gone for 3 weeks and BAM there is a new building where there had been a vacant lot!!!! Or was it something else????????????????

Mrs. Simms, I just noticed you are about to go over 300,000 points.  That's amazing.  Congratulations.  Do you think your presence at Active Rain has improved your SEO, and, in turn, your business?

Now, Sharon...I'm not gossiping, but Neal Bloom has a rumor going around that you're about to go over 300,000 points! All I can say about that is CONGRATULATIONS!!

Way to go!

I did this with a house once.  People came back to drive by their home and it wasn't there as new home was built.  I suggest to everyone to never drive by an old home once lived in.  LOL

Hi Sharon,
I see you have over 300,000 points.  Tell us about the journey and the changes you have seen here on AR.

Sharon:  Congratulations on reaching over 300,000 points.  A job well done.

I see you did just surpass the 300K, congrats, that is truly an amazing accomplishment!!

BTW, yes on perception.  I once drove through a stop sign because it was not there the previous day, and when I went through it, I was shocked, and the next day drove slowly and realized I had to stop there from then on.  These days, they usually don't do it so suddenly, but people are still not always used to it, and do not fully pay attention to the road!

What's crazy is when it was desert yesterday and now it is a huge commercial building.  Where did that come from?!?!?

ANYHOO, came by to say a BIG congratulations to our first Active Rainer who hit 300K.  I am in awe :)

Holy mackerel-congrats on 300,000 and 811 posts?  You're a rockstar.

Lysa - yes, isn't it interesting how we do or don't observe what's going on around us.

Barbara Jo - guess you'd better not go away for three weeks at a time.

Robert - thanks for the comment. Interesting that I went over 300,000 points without noticing it - had to hear it from e-mails. Yes, Active Rain has improved my SEO, as has my "other" blog. All the exposure increases my business.  Also - please call me Sharon instead of Mrs. Simms. You don't want to make me feel old, do you?

Linda - Thanks! I didn't notice until I had an e-mail from Neal. Odd that going over 300,000 coincided with several days of absolutely no time to blog or comment.

Chris - you're right. We sold a house in Tennessee and the new owners tore out everything we had custom done.  Sad!

Cynthia - it's been a wonderful journey. I used to know nothing about blogging - and then this year Selsius named me one of the top 12 women bloggers in real estate!  I noticed when I was about to go over 100,000 and also 200,000 - really missed the latest landmark until I started getting e-mails.

Dianne - many thanks!

Ronald - it's so funny what we see, and what we don't.  I have problems with the current school zones - there isn't a School Zone when you actually are going by the school, but after you've passed the intersection AFTER the school, you're still in a school zone.  That cost me several hundred dollars once - and it still doesn't make sense.

Renee - thanks much! I always look forward to your comments. Hope to meet you the next time I'm in Vegas - sorry it won't be NAR this year, too much other travel.

Leigh - thanks. I just take it one day at a time.

Sharon,

I hope you know we all are fascinated with that feat and I hope you have the chance to join the Platinum group and there are a lot of comments on my post awaiting for you!

OK, OK, Neal - I'll try! As it happens for the last week I've had no time to either comment or post. But - if I can be selling and closing in Florida's current market I guess I don't need sleep or points...

Sharon, congratulations.  Apparently the sun  is shining and you're making the hay.  Way to go.  Now, just sprinkle the sunshine/haymaking a little bit south.

Chris - Thanks! I tried to deliver it last week! From the looks of the builders models on the way to the Cape Coral restaurant, it looks like they need lots and lots of haymaking.
