Lately I've been reading that many of the uber-wealthy are having their homes built faster or their remodelings done faster. Time is money for these people and they want to enjoy what they want when they want. Thus they're paying for huge crews to work as many hours each day and as many days each week as allowed in a community. A hundred people may be working on a single home. Yes, it costs a lot more money, but these people don't care - or should I say they care more about their time and their enjoyment than they do about dollars. For the neighbors' sake, I hope your neighborhood has SOME restrictions on when hammering can be done.
p.s. and Why do workers generally have to have music on full blast?

I agree with you on the need for restrictions as to when the workers can start. I have known them to start unfortunately at around 7 - 7:30 in a couple of communities. Even though there are deed restrictions, the guards seem to think okay to let the contractors and their workers in without any form of repurcussions. It's maddening!
As to your p.s. - I think they do this just to annoy us! I can't stand it either.
Cris - many "outside" trades work from 7-3 to avoid the extreme heat in the afternoon. If a community has other restrictions, the guards at the gate should certainly enforce them.
Barbara Jo - maybe in retirement we should think of opening up a hearing aid business...
Chris - I think I'd opt for one week of round the clock. On the other hand, if it were 10 months of round the clock vs 2 years of weekdays, I don't know that I'd chose that option.
