What's your strangest exclusion? We're all familiar with the refrigerator being excluded from the listing and consequently the sale, or Grandma's chandelier. Our strangest request was from sellers who wanted to exclude the front door from the sale. It was custom made for them, and had been the front door on every house they had owned since they were married. Obviously we also had to exclude the front door photo from the photos of the house! ... since we had taken a very nice photo of the door, we had a large print made of it, then had it framed, and gave it to the sellers as a uunique and very personalized closing gift.

I can't think of anything really strange, which suggests one of two things. Either I didn't have any, or my brain cells are dying faster than I thought. What I have had, a number of times was a fig tree, a japanese maple planted when the baby was born, and various other bushes.
Come to think of it, there once was a decorative (subject to interpretation) butterfly just above the garage door that almost killed the deal at closing. Seller refused to leave it, buyer refused to close without it. Buyer capitulated.
Nice door! I'd want to keep it too...
Probably the strangest thing I've had was the seller wanted to keep every plant in their front yard. They planned to hire a lanscaping firm to dig up everything, move it to their new location, and replant the front yard on the home they were selling.
When the landscaper told them that a) most of the existing plants would die if transplanted, and b) the cost for doing this would far exceed just putting new plants in their new home, they reconsidered.
Other than a ten foot Saguaro cactus, there was really nothing special about any of their plants. At $100/foot, mature Saguaros can get expensive quick. They ended up buying a 12 footer for the new house. (If you've never seen a landscape company move and plant a 12 foot Saguaro, it's quite a site....)
how cool is it that they take their front door with the. Adding that they do that to an advertisement for the listing is enough to make one want to take, at least, a look at the house.
Very cool!
Sharon - I can see why they would want to keep it. Kinda fun that they keep moving it with them.

Thanks, Jeff. Hope you don't mind that I put the link in my comment on your blog post - I generally don't do that, but thought it complemented your post rather than detracted from it.
