Paint your shoes and help Morean Arts Center in St Petersburg by attending one of their Paint Your Shoes sessions:
- Saturday, May 22nd 10-3
- Thursday, May 27th 5-7
On July 11th the Morean Arts Center will open The Chihuly Collection on Beach Driove. The suggested donation for attending one of the above paint sessions is $5.
Why paint your shoes? What does this have to do with Chihuly? Chihuly is known for his glass work, but he also does splatter painting, which generally results in his shoes always being aplattered.
What a great time to show your creativity. Bring in a pair of shoes, from sneakers to high heels, or even Cowboy Boota and use acrylic paints to show your style. Read Chihuly, Shoe-huly.

Hi Sharon, great localism post highlighting this fun event! Hope you are doing well!
Sharon, I have a neice who has done some pretty amazing shoe art. It's fun!
Sharon - they can then be sold on e-bay for large sums of money :-)
Russell - fortunately 2010 has been a great year, and I really enjoy my own office and working with family.
Pat - maybe your niece should sell them on e-bay or at an art show or local marketplace.
Barbara-Jo - I'll have to suggest that to them - or at a local auction at the Arts Center ...
I'm not sure I'd look good in pumps, especially painted ones. LOL. I wouldn't mind going to the event, though. I bet it would be fun.
Russel - so either paint your sneakers or paint a pair of pumps for the lady love of your life.
Sharon, I absolutely love Dale Chihuly's work! He did an exhibit in Orlando when we lived there, our daughter saw one of his pieces when she was in Jerusalem, and of course the Bellagio! How exciting to know that this exhibit is only a few hours away.
Sharon - hope you'll make the trip to St Pete after Chihuly opens July 11th.
Sharon, we have best friends who ive on Anna Maria, so we will definitely plan a day in St. Pete next time we visit and also try to catch up with you!
