Suggestion for Active Rain

On the My Home page there are two large buttons at the top

    Delete Selection

and

    Delete All

They are large enough that you shouldn't confuse them, but yesterday, the first time in nearly a year, I hit the wrong button and all my saved messages for a year were gone - faster than I could unclick a button. I know the odds are small, perhaps 1 in 500, which is  only 1/5 of 1 percent, but -

could there be an "Are you sure you want to DELETE ALL" message that pops up when you click on Delete All?

Great suggestion! I have been paranoid once in a while, did I hit the right button? That is a great idea. Maybe they will add that for us! Katerina

I have done the same thing!  Good idea to bring it to their attention.

I agree Sharon that this would be a valuable addition. I did it once as well. I didn't have tons of stuff there so it wasn't such a big deal. Sorry you lost all of your messages.

Sharon, Sorry to hear you lost all of your messages.  I have never used that button, but it does seem like there should be a "last chance" to confirm or cancel.  Good idea.

I never use that button.  I accidently hit the DELETE ALL button once.  Ooops

Hi Sharon, I hit the DELETE ALL button on purpose last week and feel absolutely GREAT ABOUT IT!  LOL

It hasn't  happen to me yet, but I agree there should be a warning before the command is executed.

Sharon - I did the same thing by accident and wish it would have asked me to confirm - great suggestion.

Sharon, it seems like a lot of us have made the same mistake.  There were things I kept there and was SO sorry to lose them.  I try to be so careful when deleting but it can happen anyway.  Sorry to hear you lost it....

Sharon , I swear I get a warning message that says "are you sure? this cannot be undone?" - that is pretty strange.

Depends which server you have.Sorry to hear about that.It is a great idea though. That was a big oops.I saved the one I need on a separate file but I've also done that. Not fun.

Nestor and Katerina - the more that make the suggestion, the more likely it is to be a priority for Active Rain.

Kat - glad to add your agreement to the group.

Steve - it doesn't happen to any of us often, but it's irreversible when it does.

Dave and Kristin - for a year, I hadn't clicked it either.

Randy - maybe that's a good idea - don't use the button at all. Usually I only use it when I've checked that I want to read the comments to someone else's post, and get dozens of them. I haven't felt I needed to keep them taking up storage space on AR's server. I think you're right. Until the Delete All gets a safety message, I just won't delete anything.

Peggy - sometimes we want to get rid of clutter.  When we CHOOSE to delete everything, it is a good feeling.

Jennifer - agreed.

Jack - sometimes we have to be saved from ourselves.

Carole - I try, too. Guess we're just too tired sometimes or have a wayward finger.

Ines - maybe you captured the safety button from all of us.

Lloyd - odd that there isn't a consistency between servers.

Great suggestion. One gets so used to having that confirmation that you always expect it - I would also send an email  directly, or add it to feedback.

Sharon:  Is it a bad thing to NOT DELETE items?  Should I set a limit of # or time frame for how long my comments are shown on my HOME PAGE?
Posted by Christine Bohn, Gainesville, FL Realtor® (RE/MAX Professionals, Inc.) over 4 years ago
Christine - No, I don't see any problem with keeping them. In my case, I had fifty plus comments on someone else's blog (I had checked the box to receive them) and didn't see the need to take up anyone's space on line.
