When we write about the local market and the lifestyle here, we often blog about what's happening with the schools. I'm no exception, and have blogged about our Pinellas County schools as well.
Sometimes our readers think we have all the answers. Today I received this e-mail:
My son attends Pinellas Park High School and will continue for the next two years as I was told he will be grandfathered in since are area's zoned high school has changed. What I would like to be assured is that he will continue to be able to catch a bus to and from school.
Sorry, I can't give that assurance. I directed the writer to the Pinellas County Schools site and suggested she discuss her concern with them.

That was funny! It's got to make you feel proud to be thought of as a trusted source of information though. You ARE...you directed her to exactly the right place.
I think we all get some strange questions from our posts. I've been asked what time church services are at one of our historic churches, to what time the train comes to the Woodbridge station in the morning. Each time I give them the name of the site they need to go to and then ask do you need any assistance with your real estate needs.
It's great to be a trusted resource but never answer a question you don't know. You were smart to refer them to the source.
Congrats on being the source for the people. it can be tough but they trust you as that resource. How neat! I think in real estate i don't know is a good answer. bad to answer with a guess in this business.
With all the school zones and boundaries and the fact they change there is no way an agent can know that -- send them to the source and let them tell them.
Hi Sharon, In some communities, The place to go for answers is the local Board of REALTORS since in the smaller communities they everything going on and probably everyone in the community. I think it is quite flattering that this person sought you out believing you would know. There is some stuff that people just can't find on line.
Thanks, Kathleen, Cindy, Russ, Marcus, Bob and Carolin and William for your comments. I've frequently had calls or e-mails asking when was this year's Christmas Boat Parade, or vendors calling about developments under construction, etc., but this particular version was a first. As long as they call or inquire, I'm happy. In our new office location we get many people stopping in asking for directions, parking meter information, etc and are always happy to oblige.
Sharon,
What! I heard that you're the mover and shaker in your county! LOL

Hi Sharon! Too funny! I get calls all of the time about hard money loans--the only thing that I can think of is that I'm associated with a couple of lenders that have written about them but, my name comes up first on searches! I can't help them with that either!!
Hi Sharon, I'm laughing because I got a call last week on what time the Saline Rec was open? I guess when they read our blogs they think we know it all.
Mike - now you know why I won't run for public office!
Debe - as long as they call you!
Missy - I never mind answering questions like that - keeps us top of mind for real estate needs, I hope.
