Use google as your personal assistant

There are often times when you’d like additional information about something – what’s the phone number for that restaurant where you want to make dinner reservations? Where’s the nearest Fed Ex store or Starbucks? You can ask and get the answers from your text-messaging-enabled cell phone or PDA. Send a text message to 46645 asking what you want to know with a zip code or city and state, for example, “pizza 33711” or “Siena Restaurant Austin Texas” and in a few minutes google will text you back with the answer or closely matching choices

I love this feature!  When we were on the road and I needed to find a Lexus dealer in Texas, I text Googled it and in seconds found one.  Awesome! Who needs to stop and look at the Yellow Pages anymore!

Very good idea, Sharon.  I'm going to try that.

Great idea.  Don't forget that unless your plan includes text-messages, you're paying for both the out-going and incoming information.

Great tip!

For another google tip

If you are looking on the internet and want to narrow your search to just one site try this

whatever you are looking for site:wherever.com

this command will only search wherever.com for whatever you are looking for.

example:

On google reo returns 10,500,000 hits

reo site:remax.com returns only 42 hits all at remax.com

Kristal - I don't remember your using this feature to check on ambulance services....

Jeff - let me know how it works out.

Gregory - that's true. Text messaging doesn't cost much, but not subscribing to a plan can cost a lot.

Rob - thanks for the tip.

Google is my buddy.  I use it for anything from a definition of a word to where I want to eat.
