While spending a "tourist day" after the CLHMS class, we came by this Victorian hotel in downtown Austin, Texas. It's on a corner and the wonderful detailing is evident on both street faces.
It's said that this hotel, built by a cattle baron, is where Lyndon Johnson courted Lady Bird. With its location just a few blocks from the Capital, I'm sure it's been the scene of more than a few political deals.
The marble floors and stained glass add additional interest to the wonderful detailing of the building.

Bryant - yes, we're enjoying ourselves. This is one time that we're following our own advice - when you travel somewhere on business, stay on an extra day and night so that you'll know more about where you've been than the highway between the airport and your hotel.
Kay, I DO love old architecture. And with digital cameras, I can take lots of photos, which I was doing today. Would have liked to stop many more times along the way, but that's not always possible when you're driving along the highway or in traffic.
Jennifer - no, I don't know when it was built. Perhaps one of the Austin agents can add more about the hotel.
My daughter, Tami, and I teach some of the CLHMS classes for the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing. Laurie Moore-Moore teaches most of them - Tami and I prefer not to teach more than once a month since we are primarily in the business of helping people buy and sell real estate. We taught a 2 day CLHMS certification class here in Austin. The next one we teach will be in Vail the latter part of June, right after the NAR Resort Conference, at the same hotel.
